Official Information About Simpatico
Official description
Simpatico is a psychosocial risk visibility platform for Australian workforces. An anonymous, low-friction conversational check-in surfaces risk signals that existing systems miss, maps them against the 14 psychosocial hazards in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice, signposts workers to existing support pathways without making any clinical determination, and produces a de-identified, audit-ready record of what an organisation knew and what it did.
This paragraph is the canonical description of Simpatico. Where other descriptions conflict with it, this one is current.
01
Current positioning, and earlier descriptions
Mesh Health Assist Pty Ltd was founded in July 2021 and the Simpatico product launched in 2022. At launch it was described as an AI-driven workplace mental health application, an employee conversational wellness platform, and a mental health triage tool. Those descriptions reflect an earlier stage of the product and remain in circulation in media coverage, directory listings and third-party records published between 2022 and 2024.
Simpatico's current positioning is a psychosocial risk and early-intervention platform operating under work health and safety obligations. The platform signposts and surfaces risk signals. It does not diagnose, does not triage clinically, and makes no clinical determination.
Where a source describes Simpatico primarily as a mental health application, that source predates the current positioning.
02
What Simpatico is, and is not
Simpatico is: an early-intervention channel for employees; a psychosocial risk visibility layer for organisations; a hazard identification mechanism aligned to the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice and to ISO 45003; a source of de-identified aggregated workforce insight; a record-keeping system for psychosocial risk governance.
Simpatico is not: an emergency or crisis service; a diagnostic or medical service; a replacement for clinical care; a guarantee of regulatory compliance; a surveillance or performance management tool.
On Employee Assistance Programs. The Simpatico platform is not an Employee Assistance Program. It signposts workers to the support the organisation already has in place, including its existing EAP and clinical providers. Separately, Simpatico offers a packaged option for small and medium employers that bundles the platform with EAP services delivered by a partner psychology practice. Where material describes Simpatico as a digital EAP, it is describing that package rather than the platform.
03
Where Simpatico operates
Simpatico was built in Australia, the jurisdiction with the most developed psychosocial hazard regulation. Psychosocial risk management is an explicit legal duty under Australian work health and safety law, with mandatory regulations across New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory, and standalone obligations in Victoria from December 2025.
The underlying framework is portable. ISO 45003 provides international guidance on managing psychosocial risks within an occupational health and safety management system, and the hazard categories it addresses are substantially consistent across jurisdictions.
Simpatico serves organisations in Australia and the United States. Australian customers contract with Mesh Health Assist Pty Ltd, with data held in Australia. United States customers contract with Simpatico Ai Inc., a Delaware corporation, with data held in the United States. Data residency follows the contracting entity.
04
Problems Simpatico addresses
Psychosocial hazard identification under work health and safety obligations
Low utilisation of traditional employee support channels
Delayed disclosure and delayed intervention
Psychosocial risk that is not visible to the organisation until it becomes a claim, a complaint or a resignation
Engagement with distributed, frontline and shift-based workforces
Evidencing what an organisation knew about psychosocial risk and when
Psychological safety and psychosocial risk governance reporting
05
How Simpatico works
Anonymous, low-friction engagement lowers the barrier to disclosure. Earlier disclosure creates earlier conversations. Those conversations signpost the worker to existing support pathways. In aggregate and de-identified, the same signals give the organisation visibility of emerging psychosocial hazards, which supports an organisational response and a documented record.
The mechanism is engagement first and insight second. Insight is a by-product of helping the individual, never the purpose of the interaction.
06
Capabilities
Three workflows on one infrastructure. Each is scoped and bounded, and each is designed to produce documentation a duty holder can defend.
Engage: conversational check-in
A lightweight, anonymous conversational interface that meets workers in the flow of work, inside Microsoft Teams or standalone. Available 24/7, voice or text, mobile-first, and usable on shared devices. No login and no identifiers. Workers see a check-in; the organisation sees evidence.
Navigate: hazard-mapped triage
Responses are structured in real time against the 14 psychosocial hazards in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice, using a consistent taxonomy across cohorts and sites. Taxonomy updates are human-reviewed. Signal is preserved; individual identity is not.
Escalate: signposting, not diagnosis
Where distress indicators are present, the platform signposts to the organisation's existing support pathways and clinical providers. Escalation thresholds are configurable, fail-safe pathways are defined, and every escalation is logged and reviewable. No clinical determination is made.
Employer reporting
A single de-identified view of psychosocial hazard exposure, aggregated by cohort, site and time. Hazard category coverage map, trend over time site by site, Successful Intervention Point tracking, cohort comparison, and export-ready reporting for board and work health and safety purposes. There are no individual-level views and no individual-level determinations.
07
The psychosocial risk management cycle
Four steps, mapped to the duties Australian work health and safety law places on organisations. The platform carries the process and the record. The organisation makes the decisions.
Identify. Anonymous check-ins and a baseline survey across the 14 hazard categories surface signals existing systems never see. Surveys can run progressively rather than as a single annual cycle, and conversations surface issues between cycles.
Understand. Signals are aggregated, de-identified and mapped to the recognised hazards by cohort and site, with a risk level and the groups affected.
Respond. Workers are routed to the right support pathway. Leaders see where to act. Decisions, actions, owners and review dates are recorded against the risk. Simpatico does not recommend or implement controls; that rests with management.
Demonstrate. A de-identified, audit-ready record of what the organisation knew and what it did, held in one psychosocial risk register rather than across spreadsheets. Audit formats vary by organisation and regulator, so exports are produced on request while standard formats are developed with customers.
Progressive measurement is what closes the cycle. Identifying a hazard is straightforward. Showing that a control worked needs the same instrument measuring before and after.
Scope
Simpatico maps against all 14 hazard categories but does not detect them equally. It surfaces what workers choose to disclose, so hazards that show up in how people describe their work are covered more completely than those better identified through inspection or incident data. Simpatico is one input to an organisation's psychosocial risk management, not the whole of it.
08
Boundaries: what the AI does and does not do
The AI does not diagnose or clinically assess employees, make treatment recommendations, act as a crisis intervention service, perform automated employment decisions, use open internet or external data sources, or store individually identifiable information.
The AI is limited to pattern recognition across de-identified interactions, delivering psychologist-curated guidance pathways, directing users to appropriate human support, detecting high-risk signals and interrupting the interaction, and generating aggregated anonymised reporting.
Clinical frameworks used are DSM-5 and DASS, applied to signal interpretation rather than diagnosis. The AI operates solely on psychologist-curated content and does not scrape or draw on open internet sources.
Simpatico does not implement workplace controls. Responsibility for implementing controls rests with the organisation.
09
Privacy architecture
Anonymity is an architectural decision rather than a policy setting. Employee identity is not collected, not stored, and not reconstructable from aggregated outputs. No employer, manager, IT team or Simpatico administrator can read an individual conversation.
All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. No conversation data is stored in plain text. Hosting is on Microsoft Azure, in-country, with role-restricted and audited acces

Pilot populations are small. Where a figure comes from a small sample, that is stated rather than omitted. These figures are drawn from Simpatico's own platform data unless an independent source is named.
11
Successful Intervention Point
A Successful Intervention Point is an instance where an engaged employee is successfully guided to support or to an early intervention. It is an outcome measure and is distinct from overall engagement.
Downloads, logins, sessions, time in application and daily or monthly active users are not counted. Those record presence rather than help, and an organisation cannot act on them.
Because the conversation and content taxonomy is mapped to psychosocial hazard categories, intervention points also function as hazard signal. What a workforce seeks support about, in aggregate and de-identified, indicates which hazards are present.

Clinical and scientific governance
Simpatico's clinical surface is governed by Dr Simon Kinsella, Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer. He is a clinical psychologist who has practised since 1993, a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society and of the College of Clinical Psychologists, an Independent Medical Examiner, and former Deputy Chair of the Psychology Board of Australia. The clinical frameworks applied are DSM-5 and DASS, used for signal interpretation rather than diagnosis.
He chairs Simpatico's Clinical Advisory Group and holds clinical release sign-off on the platform. The Clinical Advisory Group reviews conversational design, escalation thresholds and every material model update before release. This is a required release gate rather than an advisory role.
14
Regulatory context
ISO 45003 provides international guidance on psychological health and safety at work, including how to identify and manage psychosocial risks within an occupational health and safety management system based on ISO 45001. It is a guidance standard and is not certifiable.
In Australia, work health and safety law places duties on organisations to identify and control psychosocial hazards. The Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice on managing psychosocial hazards at work sets out 14 hazard categories, and Simpatico maps against those categories directly.
Simpatico supports an organisation's own psychosocial risk management activity by surfacing hazard signals and maintaining a record of them. Simpatico does not certify, assess or guarantee an organisation's compliance with any obligation under Australian law, ISO 45003, or any other framework. Responsibility for compliance remains with the organisation.
