Psychosocial risk · workforce visibility

Most psychosocial risk stays invisible until it's expensive.

Your support programs only see the few who ask for help. The risk sitting outside them is unseen, unmanaged, and now a board-level duty. It surfaces later as a claim, an incident, or a resignation. Simpatico is how you see it earlier, and act before it escalates.

The organisational blind spot

In a workforce of 1,000, most risk never reaches you.

Around 200 of them will face a mental health challenge this year. Only about 40 will ever engage with formal support. The rest stay invisible to every system you have: the ones under the most pressure, in the roles least likely to speak up. The cost surfaces somewhere else.

Your workforce 1,000
Will experience a mental health challenge this year (1 in 5) ~200
Will ever engage with formal support (3–5%) ~40
Invisible to every system you have ~160

Unlikely to ever appear through traditional support channels. A significant organisational blind spot.

“We'd had an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) in place for years, and to our knowledge, nobody had used it. Simpatico has been completely different. We're seeing employees engage who previously weren't seeking support, with Successful Intervention Points (SIPs) already reaching 12.5% of our workforce. For the first time, we have confidence that people who might never have asked for help are getting support early.”

Successful Intervention Points (SIPs): instances where an engaged employee is successfully guided to support or an early intervention, an outcome measure, distinct from overall engagement.

The category distinction

Providing support isn't the same as managing risk.

Most organisations already fund EAPs, training and wellbeing programs, and assume the problem is handled. But support helps the person who asks. Psychosocial risk management means seeing the hazard across your whole workforce, acting on it, and being able to show a regulator what you did.

Since December 2025, that's not best practice. It's an enforceable duty, and it sits with the board.

Traditional EAP

  • Waits for the person to ask
  • Reaches the ~3–5% who self-refer
  • Individual support, no workforce view
  • Nothing to show a regulator

Simpatico

  • Reaches out with anonymous check-ins
  • Engages the people who never self-refer
  • Maps signals to the recognised hazards
  • A demonstrable process for the board

The hidden cost

Claims are only the part you can see.

Accepted claims and rising premiums are the visible cost. Beneath them sits far more: absenteeism, presenteeism, turnover, extended return-to-work, lost productivity across affected teams. Most of it never becomes a claim. All of it costs the business.

Above the line · visible

Accepted claims Premium pressure Legal escalation

Beneath it · hidden

Absenteeism Presenteeism Churn RTW drag Productivity loss

Most of the cost sits below the waterline: unmeasured, unmanaged, and growing until it surfaces as the part you can see.

How Simpatico works

Engagement is what turns invisible risk into something you can act on.

Simpatico meets workers where they are: an anonymous, low-friction check-in that the people who avoid traditional support will actually use. It identifies risk signals, maps them to the recognised psychosocial hazards, and routes workers to the right support, without replacing clinical care. The result is a live, workforce-level view of psychosocial risk, and the evidence a regulator now expects.
